OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN III-14

POSITION DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY

Performs operations and maintenance duties at DCO Operations – Hartford, LLC facilities.

Responsible for the proper operation of combined heat and power facilities while on shift.

Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs mechanical and electrical equipment. This equipment includes, but is not limited to the Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Heat Recovery Steam

Generators, Gas Compressor, Air Compressors, Boilers, Chillers, Motors, Pumps, and other auxiliary equipment. Strictly adheres to all safety and environmental rules and regulations to protect employees and public safety. Works under the direction of the Operations and

Maintenance Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

? Must be able to read, write and speak English effectively.

? Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

? Must physically be able to perform the duties required.

? Must have a high level of knowledge in System operations relative to electrical, steam, hot water and chilled water generation and systems.

? Must have a high level of skill using power tools, manual tools, machines and testing equipment used in Plant maintenance and construction.

? Must be able to produce and work from dimensioned drawings, P&IDs, electrical/control schematics, flow diagrams and technical specifications.

? Must have extensive experience in trouble-shooting and fault diagnosis of plant equipment and operations.

? Must display initiative and be able to exercise independent judgement and make prompt, accurate decisions.

? Must have a proven high level of proficiency in three or more primary skill areas to include plant operations, electrical systems, instrumentation, equipment repair and piping/mechanical disciplines.

? Must be able to work a rotating shift, overtime, or irregular hours as needed to support reliable operation of the facility.

? Must have current and complete vaccinations for Covid-19 and Flu.

? Must be willing to complete a Company sponsored training program for operating and maintaining plant equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

? Does highly skilled mechanical, electrical, electronic and instrumentation work in repair and maintenance of chillers, boilers, pumps, turbines, engines, motors, fans, hoists, compressors, valves, expansion joints, traps, filters, piping, regulators for steam, water, air, fuel oil, natural gas, hot water and chilled water distribution systems including street valves, manholes and equipment in customer buildings.

? Does cleaning, painting, pipe fitting, carpentry, masonry and insulation work as required.

? Follows written and oral assignments and develops and fills out written and computerized forms or reports as required.

? Records maintenance actions taken on Work Order forms.

? Uses facility operating procedures and equipment technical manuals to maintain and repair facility equipment and ensure equipment is operated within operating range.

? Fully support the use of a computerized Maintenance Management System by displaying a proficiency in using the system and dedication to the facility maintenance philosophy.

? Lays out work and prepares layout and as-built schematics of job installations.

? Performs all duties to do a complete job including planning, vendor contact, installation, start-up and follow-up.

? Keeps records of inspections and maintenance of equipment, buildings and facilities as assigned or directed.

? Installs, inspects, adjusts, repairs and maintains all mechanical, electrical, electronic and pneumatic equipment.

? Installs, maintains and calibrates metering equipment and instrumentation throughout the

Company’s steam, hot water, chilled water, condenser water and customer premise systems.

? Records all readings required or as directed to maintain efficient operation of the steam, hot water, chilled water and condenser water systems.

? Responds as needed and reports to a supervisor in a timely manner any unusual, improper or unsafe conditions.

? Operates all plant equipment and plant systems and coordinates system wide steam, hot water, chilled water and condenser water operations.

? Utilizes all available information to operate systems in the most efficient, reliable and economic manner.

? Operates all systems in such a manner to insure that customer receive a useable and contract compliant product.

? Organizes and directs the work of other people assigned to their work group.

? Reads, understands and complies with all regulatory procedures and facility safety.

? Cooperates and participates as a team member.

? Must qualify and fill in for on-call Duty Technician when scheduled.

? Must perform these duties at any DCO Operations – Hartford, LLC location.

? Performs other duties as required.

LICENSE/EXPERIENCE

A High School diploma or equivalent is required. Four or more years of experience in power plant operation or maintenance is desired. A valid OE-2 Operating Stationary Engineer License, an S or an E license issued by the State of Connecticut is required.
